As part of the educational program of the Department of Character Design at the Kyoto University of Arts and Design in Kyoto, Japan, on March 4th, 2013, Department Director and professor, Hisaka Ono, and six Japanese students toured one of Hollywood's top studios, the Walt Disney Animation Headquarters in Burbank, California. The purpose of the visit was to inspire the young aspiring students to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals.
In early 2013, the SKF was contacted by the University to request a tour at the animation studio. The foundation helped coordinate their private tour inside the studio as part of SKF's educational program. In support of the students and the University's program, Shin Koyamada voluntarily accompanied the 2-hour tour from beginning to end. The students were also excited to meet and interact with Hollywood star Mr. Koyamada, who also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Wendy Wu Homecoming Warrior and various TV shows.
For the student attendees it was their first trip to the United States. Getting a private tour inside the studio, seeing the real professional work places and interacting directly with the team was a memorable dream come true.
After the tour, the students told Mr. Koyamada that they were very happy, inspired and deeply satisfied by the honorable tour and hospitality they received at the studio.
The following day, the students explored the Hollywood area. They got to enjoy tourist attractions and experience American culture, including eating American foods and drinks, shopping, taking a Yellow cab, learning about the streets and communities, visiting American stores they don’t have in Japan and practicing their English everywhere they went.
