The Martial Arts Scholarship Program ("MASP") is a program of the Agency for Donations & Grants designed to provide youth and children between the ages of 12 and 24 the necessary funds so they can pursue training in the martial arts as a means to cultivate self-discipline, improve their health, and learn respect, honor and courtesy. MASP offers two initiatives, grants and an International Martial Arts Exchange Program. The mission of the program is to cultivate self-discipline and enhance one’s potential through martial arts.
We would like to tell you about Corrine Allas, the first recipient of a Shin Koyamada Foundation (SKF) Martial Arts Scholarship. Co-founders of the SKF, Shin Koyamada and Nia Lyte, drove down to San Diego to personally deliver the scholarship to Allas during a small ceremony held in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego.
Due to SKF’s sponsorship Allas shared with the SKF that she was able to attend the 2011, USA National Karate-do Federation (USANKF) national championships in Arlington, Texas and described how she did at the event.
