What is Disaster Relief Fund?
The Disaster Relief Fund (DRF) is a program of the Agency for Donations & Grants that collects and distributes contributes relief funds, goods and supplies for the benefit of victims of natural disasters.
What is your experience?
In response to the physically and spiritually devastating earthquake and the subsequent tsunami that struck the Tohoku region of Japan on March 11, 2011, DRF raised funds which were distributed to victims in disaster areas. Additionally a 20-foot container was shipped that delivered much needed diapers, 950 quilts, stationary goods, clothing, letters and messages, and bicycles, which at the moment were the most useful mode of transportation throughout the land torn areas. Who can volunteer the program?
We basically welcome ANYONE without regard to age, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, familial status, national origin, disability, social status or status as a disabled veteran. Interested? Contact us »
How do you raise the relief funds?
We currently have two ways of increasing our ability to donate funds. We have been successful with both hosting fundraiser events and receiving contributions electronically through our official website and mail.
What percentage of my cash donation goes to help the victims directly?
100%. Our foundation takes absolutely no percentage of your relief money made to help the victims. We cover the administrative expenses through the donations raised and shared by our other programs.
Do you help victims of every natural disaster in the world?
We try to help the victims of all natural disaster to the extent out volunteer staff and fundraisers are able. A large part of our sustainability comes from our success with finding and retaining volunteers and being able to consistently raise monetary funds through donations.
How exactly do you help the victims internationally?
We work together with local and international corporations, organizations or groups in affected areas to direct our relief donations, goods, supplies and volunteers.
For instance, in the 2011 Japan's Earthquake and Tsunami disaster, we worked with an import/export and transportation company as well a group of dedicated volunteers in both United States and Japan to ship donated items.
